Two words… gag me.
I know I know, a little off the cusp for a fitness instructor but let’s face it… working out with the SOUL INTENTION of LOOKING GOOD is sooooo last season. If I’ve learned anything in the last 8 years of being in the fitness industry it is that if you want to see & feel results, you switch out LOOK GOOD for FEEL GOOD. In fact, reinventing how men and women view their daily routines both physically + mentally and defining the difference between the two is HOW I have managed to pave my own way in the fitness industry.
Now, this is not to discredit wanting to LOOK GOOD. I mean, who doesn’t want to look like a hot fire flame?! BUT! There is something to be said for how you FEEL on the inside and how that energy & confidence radiates through you. To me, that is the HOTTEST look. You could do 5 workouts a week, have every dude in the world drooling over your hot, toned, body & STILL not feel great. So all this to say, it is my souls purpose to intentionally create a new way of achieving your fitness, lifestyle, personal goals AKA, your BIG A** DREAMS.
Meaningful daily routines have the power to shift your life completely. It wasn’t until I started carving out more time to take care of myself where I truly felt closer to feeling like my most authentic self.
Daily routines aren’t necessarily meant to be complex or advanced, yet something simple that gets you up and moving or relaxed and grounded. Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier. Schedule out a moment on your lunch break to log off social media and do something mindful, JUST FOR YOU. Tune into your breath, heart and gratitude practice. The peace of mind is worth it.
A lot of women message me craving routine, but have a hard time finding the time and space to create one. Whether you work a full time job with young kiddos at home or are in your 20’s trying to balance a thriving social life and schoolwork; trust me, there is ALWAYS a way to make the time for yourself. The “I HAVE NO TIME” excuse, will only keep you further from feeling YOUR best. So, here is a very EASY way you can start to cultivate a routine you love…
CHOOSE to show up. Yep, it’s that easy. Make the choice. Wake up 30 minutes earlier, create boundaries and HOLD YOURSELF accountable. This choice will open the doors to everything you feel called to. Will it be hard at first? It might, juggling it all isn’t easy. What motivates me is knowing that the more I put myself first, the better I can be for the people in my life and the better I will feel!
Routines take time, discipline and consistency to make a habit. You have to tune out the noise, slow down, create time for them and show up day in, day out. Newsflash!!! If you have time for everyone else, you have time for yourself and your own routine.
Candidly, sometimes I look back and am not surprised that I was a ball of anxiety/had no purpose/felt depressed in my 20’s. I felt a spark inside but had a really hard time holding myself accountable. I prioritized everyone else, going out in Hollywood and transparently didn’t like getting out of my comfort zone. Do the same sh*t, expect the same results KIND OF VIBES. Eventually the agony of not living to my full potential got the best of me and I knew I had to make a change. My step ONE was choosing MYSELF… 5 years later, my life has literally done a complete 180.
For so long, the health and wellness industry seemed like a one-size fits all approach. But, one of the reasons why I LOVE movement, is because people are not one-size fits all and never will be! We have different bodies, levels of comforts, different ways of moving and we’re all starting at different places. I saw the opportunity to create a workout program that meets people where they are at and truly honors their differences.
The mindset shift from working out to look good to working out to be your best self empowers me and hopefully YOU to look amazing but also truly feel amazing inside and out. Enjoy this secret sauce;
Your personality + your authenticity + your unique shape + your gifts/talents/passions + taking care of yourself = THE BEST LOOKING YOU. (I don’t see 60 minute workouts, diets, no days off in that equation, okkaayyyyy!)
The SBC community is a safe space for personal growth and becoming the best version of yourself. Men and women show up every day ready to work hard on their physical and mental well being. They are dedicated to creating their best selves and lifestyles through their daily routine and commitment to movement.
When asked about what quality life means through the lens of my brand, I always turn to this; Anytime I feel resistance coming on, I think to myself “if not now, WHEN?” I want to be an active participant in my life. I want to feel, I want to move, I want to connect, I want to bring joy and ENERGY into other people’s lives. In order to do that, I have to remove myself from the outcome and just go for it! *Feel the fear and do it anyway KIND OF VIBES* I aim high and do my best to let go of the things that get in my way; I will always encourage YOU to do the same!
Doing what you love, giving back to your community, feeling inspired daily, and being surrounded by people who support and love you are truly the most important aspects of my quality of life. I believe in living a life full of gratitude and doing the things that bring you joy.
Daily movement, regular routines, and quality of life can be powerful tools in becoming your *best* self, BUT, really only made possible when backed by meaning and purpose. When you incorporate your intentions with your workouts and daily rituals, you will see deep growth and change within yourself. You will reach your biggest “pinch me” goals and you will feel like the badass bish you always wanted to be.
6:30a: Alarm goes off (ah, ah, ah, don’t hit snooze!) I will usually lay in bed and just get the sleepy wiggles out for a moment. Let my body easeeee into the new day.
6:40a: Brush my teeth & clean my skin
7a: WATER & THINGS. Big class with lemon or my athletic greens. Coffee has to wait until 8a at the earliest. At this time I take my Seed, put on eye masks & ice roll my face with the Skinny Confidential Ice Roller (it is truly the best).
7:10a: time to get woo woo baby. I am currently working towards my breath work certification with Ava Johanna’s Academy of breath. So, the 45-60 minutes of my morning consists of breathwork, meditation, gratitude, reading, learning, and journaling.
8a ish: coffee run/morning walk/ease into emails & start my day!
!!!! This routine looks different day-by-day, week-to-week. Give yourself permission to move through your morning routine INTUITIVELY !!!!
